In news that has brought me great joy, yesterday I learned that my book Moby-Dick in Pictures has been named one of The 11 Best Art and Design Books of 2011 by the folks over at Brain Pickings! This is just incredibly exciting and, as with any great endeavor, the honor must be shared. Diane Chonette and Janet Parker of Tin House Books did an absolutely amazing job in taking my giant stack of drawings and paintings and organizing them into a truly beautiful book. I watched with awe as they shared their thoughts on everything from paper stock to font choices to all sorts of cover designs and what they did was pure magic. This book belongs to them as much as it does to me, and I am truly indebted to them for creating such a beautiful object. Also from Tin House, my editor Lee Montgomery, Meg Storey, Nanci McCloskey, Deborah Jayne and Desiree Andrews all worked very very hard to turn this project into a book and then to get word of this book out to everyone who might be interested. And of course, without the hard and sometimes thankless work of my agent Seth Fishman, there would never have been any thought of a book at all.
Thank you a million times to everyone who worked so hard on this, everyone who shared word of this project and the book, and everyone who visited this blog, left comments, and helped me along the way.

Huge congratulations Matt!
Part of me wishes you hadn't put the link up though. I want to own them all.
Ha, I know what you mean. I just returned from a long publicity trip to New York, Philadelphia and Brooklyn. I shipped home 3 boxes of books and then completely stuffed a suitcase and backpack with more. The last thing I need is to add a few more titles, but so many of these are irresistible!
That's awesome Kish!
Thanks Thomas! I was secretly hoping something like this would happen, so it was awesome when it did.
