One of the Most Beautiful Books of 2011

Alexander Nazaryan of the NY Daily News has named my book Moby-Dick in Pictures as one of the two Most Beautiful Books of 2011. I am joined on this list by a fascinatingly designed exploration of Vladimir Nabokov's Pale Fire which is fine company indeed. Nazaryan also has some intriguing thoughts on the nature of print versus digital books in the piece, which you can read right here.

Just brilliant Matt! And he's right.

I'm intrigued by the Pale Fire thing, but I'm such a partisan for the footnotes as an absolutely equal part of Pale Fire (and the easier half of the novel for me to appreciate) that I probably won't buy it.

It was certainly an interesting approach to the book, but I was a bit surprised at what was left out as well. Perhaps this one is, to borrow a tired but delightful phrase, "for completists only."
